Cams and Followers ~ Displacement Diagram Drawings
A Cam is a rotating or sliding piece of mechanical linkage used especially in transforming rotary motion into linear motion or vice-versa.
The motion of certain cams can be characterized by their displacement diagrams. These are the Engineering Drawings produced for industry to create cams.
The Displacement Diagram reflects the changing position of a roller follower would make as the cam rotates about an axis. These diagrams relate angular position, usually in degrees, to the radial displacement experienced at that position.
